Ok, Well my point was with the skill trainer is say you beat/complete all 3 campaigns with a character. Now for convienence the skill trainer in the guild hall should have all skills from the 3 games because as you advance in game skills become unlocked regardless if purchased at the time (not to mention unlocking with balthazar earned). Having the guild hall skills guy is only used to save you time hopping from cantha to tyria to elona trying to find where to skill orignated from without going to look it up. You still have to spend the 1k in gold to buy it nothing is free. The Guild hall skills person should be bound by the same rules as all skills persons in game. Only diffrence being if you own all 3 campaigns have them available from guild hall. Now if you only own nightfall you don't have access to factions and prophecies. If you just created a new character, rank 1, he only has beginer skills available until you progress fruther in the game like normal.

My second idea was a seperate issue. I just wanted to throw it out there. I should have made a seperate topic . When you compare PvP characters with PvE. It makes it more laborsome to take your well loved PvE character to PvP keeping up with current builds and such. Say you have 6 characters and you want death charge on all 6. You need to spend 6k in gold compared to PvP character who just needs to unlock it with 1k balthazar point once and it is available to limitless PvP characters. Now my idea kicks in here, say you have an elemetalist that has unlocked and bought all his primary skills. Then you have your other characters Mo/E, A/E, Me/E, W/E and so on. Would it be a nice idea not to buy the same secondary skill over and over at 1k each but have it be available becuase it was already purchased by the elemtalist because he was the primary. That was just my thoughts buying skills over and over. Maybe have it available once you enter the PvP map like TA, RA, guild hall for GvG. Just trying to bridge the cap between PvE character going into PvP.

I don't know if you know Aeon but right now you can go win an alliance battle go to you GH to the priest of balthazar look up a skill farther in game than one of your characters might be on the chapters you own, unlock it with 1k balthazar faction go to the chapter the skill in in and buy it from any skills trainer in that game.

The reason Anet has this limitation on the GH Skill Trader is exactly what Freekedoutfish was talking about. Sure, you can go to any skill trader and get a skill that you Balth unlocked in that campaign. If you start in Prophecies, you only have access to Prophecies skills until you get the ability to travel between continents. If the GH skill trader had all unlocked skills, someone could get all the skills they needed as soon as they left Pre Searing, but another person who had just left Pre who wasn't in a guild would be at a disadvantage because he would only have access to Proph skills until he got to LA. Anet is trying to keep it so that no one is at an advantage for being in a Guild.

I'm going to agree with the person who said there should be "core" skills for the expansion classes. As it stands 40% of the classes can't use the trainers at all and the other 60% have limited use of them.

Another way to fix it is have the skills offered vary by PC and how far that PC has gotten. If your tyrian monk has gotten to ember and kaineng center, then you should be able to buy all proph non-elites and all the skills offered at kaineng. This would also help rits and sassis (and all who have gotten far in factions) who have gotten to harvest temple but can't buy skills because the other side controls it.

Same argument I made in the other thread mentioned.

Same reason you can't start assassin/rit/paragon/durvish in prophecies.

The game designers wanted certain aspects to stay in their chapters untill they've earned the right to voyage away from their homeland.

In addition, all NPC's except maybe storage are pretty much completely useless in the guild hall. Their point is not to let you have an advantage for spending the money, but proof that you spent the money.

Prestige.

If you still don't get it (/signers), if a player/guild has that kind of cash, they apparently were good enough players to earn it(with the exception of ebay/money sites). But I think you do get it, and are trying to get out of chapter skills with zero work..

Suck it up and play the game.

I checked it out, the skill trainer in LA does sell all the unlocked skills for my ele, i guess i cant have unlocked them when last i went

I definately think that the GH skill trainer should have ALL unlocked skills, as its not that hard to get them in the towns.

plus, since when, with running so rampant, would this change anything? right now, if you have unlocked all Ele and Warrior skills from prophecies, if you make another E/W or W/E, as soon as you get through the searing to Old Ascalon, you have access to every skill from the skill trainer there... just the same as if you unlock them with Balth Faction or buy the Pvp unlock packs
Your talking about PvP skills though. You cant compare unlocking or purchasing PvP skills to PvE. It makes no difference in PvP at what point you get a skill.

In PvE it matters alot. If the trainers in GHs do sell PvE skills (something no one answered for me), then you dont want a PvE player who might already have an elemental character, starting a new elemental, going to the GH at lvl10 and unlocking meteor shower.

Its over-powered, unusuable, unrealistic, and unfair for those not in a guild.

In PvE, we should unlock skills at a set point in a game as part of that characters development. Not give them away using cash or locking them like in PvP.

But again, if im wrong about PvE skills in the GH, then tell me.

Ok make a new ele in prohecies and rush to Ascalon i bet you 100% you will be able to unlock Meteor Shower at lvl 1/2 if you already have it unlocked.

Are you talking about a regular skill-traders in towns, not a GH, or PvP one?

I wasnt aware that new low lvl PvE characters could purchase skills other high lvl PvE chars had already bought?

It could be I didnt notice in the 2 years of playing, and Im wrong. Correct me if I am. But my point was also that its stupid for a low level character to purchase a high end skill.

How can a low level player use a high energy demand and recharging skill like metor shower effectively? It might nuke the area, but they will be rendered useless for 60 seconds.

Then what difference does it make if it is avail in the GH or not?

Right now the GH skill trainer is an SoC vendor that costs 100k.

I think it was mentioned before, but one idea would be to limit the skills to core + unlocked skills from each continent that char has visited. So a char coming out of pre-sear would have access to core + unlocked Tyrian skills. Once it gets to LA and crosses over to Elona or Cantha, it would have access to unlocked skills from those campaigns as well. Pretty simple solution to people's major concerns and make the GH skill trainer actually useful.

I agree this should be changed so the Hall skills trainer lets you buy all the skills you have unlocked, just like the normal skill trainers do now.

Perhaps just add an extra check so if a character hasn't been to a campaign it can't get that campaign's skills until it has been there.

Otherwise there really is no reason why not, since you can already buy all unlocked skills in a campaign from all the trainers in it. e.g. a level 2 character can buy all the skills you have unlocked from the Ascalon skills trainer.

This doesnt include the skill trainers in the Guild Halls, that's what this thread is all about.

The reason why i want the guild hall skills trainer to work is solely to save me time. I hate traveling to cantha, tyria, elona buying a diffrent skills looking it up on wiki to see which campaign its on.

You have a team in your guild hall and you say hold on let me leave to go buy it after wheres it at? Instead just run right to the skill trainer and buy it there makes more sense.

Not looking to make any game advantages for people who can afford a skills trainer or someone who lacks a guild. Just trying to make things faster when trying to find the quick couple skills someones saying to get. I find it more usefull after u have 10 characters that have beat/completed all 3 chapters to have that skills person have everything there.

I totaly agree. Having all unlocked skills and a campaign check per character has been the best idea on how to update this NPC that I've heard. Currently, it's only useful for SoC's, as many others have said.

/signed, for Xenrath's idea

I agree 100%. He should have all unlocked skills available. To the people who are scared that low level characters will be able to get powerful skills like meteor shower: this is already possible. If I bring one ele through the game and buy meteor shower, and then start a new one, the new one can buy it at ascalon city. Even easier, if I do RA a little and get 1,000 balth faction, I can get it at ascalon city for my first ele.
